Following his latest collection guidelines and inspirations, photographers Phil Manh Nguyen & Pascal Dufresne and Guillaum teamed up in this meaningful editorial, focusing on one of its most iconic piece & storytelling.
Blxxd Tears, as per Chaigne’ inspirations for his FW19 red felt coat back artwork, was a way to denunciate women body & birth control, mainly since the Alabama signed its most repressing anti-abortion law in May 2019. The coat color & cut are also inspired by a popular tv show, which story illustrates a scenario where fertile women becomes an affordable slavery for rich people to get; An extreme yet sadly imaginable scenario regarding the way women still can socially and politically be considered today.
The editorial starts with an amazing on-the-spot photography of Phil Manh Nguyen in NYC subway, a strong visual by the total lack of attention on the model, used to illustrate the way our society is facing that kind of situation.
Phil & Pascal chose the cartesian aesthetics from the Vessel in Midtown Manhattan to reiterate Chaigne bold & linear guidelines, and to set a whole different dimension to the visuals.
